Italian hair care company Davines has launched its new Alchemic line of pigmented shampoos and conditioners designed to enhance natural and color-treated hair to give it a healthy shine.

We wanted to provide colorists with an opportunity to use pigmented products that also protected the hair," said Regis Haberkorn, chief operating officer of Davines North Americas. Formulated with milk proteins, vegetable extracts, vitamins A and B, and olive oil derivatives, the Alchemic Shampoo, $20, is designed to clean hair and intensify hair color, while adding moisture and shine. The Alchemic Conditioner, $24, is formulated with vitamin E and pigment enhancers. It also contains hydrolyzed milk protein that acts as a deep conditioner. More Hair Salons Are Going Green
Sharon is convinced that eco salons are viable and not only desireable but practical for both the salon owner and the client. Calgary's premiere salon, the Inglewood Beauty Bar is Sharons venture into salon management at an ecologically friendly level. And what's more - Sharons thoughts are being mirrored world wide:
*Davines/Essential Haircare, a brilliant collection of Italian shampoos and hair treatment products, has rapidly acquired a cult following -- for its all-natural formulas as well as its eco-friendly packaging. All the products use organic ingredients like chestnut milk and fresh pumpkin cells. The company's starkly beautiful packaging, meanwhile, is fully recyclable, and the pearly translucent bottles, tubes and jars use 70 percent less plastic than conventional packaging, making them unusually soft and malleable. They are so malleable, in fact, that the bottles are only filled about three quarters full, to avoid spillage from squeezing. Never fear, though -- the volume given on the label is honored within.
*When she first opened her eco-friendly hair salon in August, Kara Walston had no idea the amount of buzz she would generate. As someone who is environmentally conscious, it made sense to Walston that her business, Hush Hush Bang Bang in Costa Mesa, California, reflected her concern for the environment.
"I was trying to change my path at home, so I figured, why not change it at work?" she says. She didn't realize hers was one of the first environmentally friendly salons on the West Coast.

Feeling positive about our appearance helps us to feel positive in other areas of our lives. Our hair speaks volumes about us—from the color to the cut and ultimately the style that we choose. Beautiful, healthy, chic hair can be a reality for everyone. It simply requires a little attention, the inclusion of a few easy details in our daily routine, and a good stylist.
Beautiful hair is achieved by using a shampoo that contains high concentrations of natural ingredients and essential oils and a minimum of synthetic additives. On a daily basis, rely on shampoos made with pure plant essence, provitamin B5, and antioxidants such as vitamin E. This choice is your first step in working toward the goal of healthy, beautiful hair. Additionally, a special detoxifying shampoo once a week may be helpful to remove any product buildup from accessory hair products or other toxins.
